Our theme for this year’s Annual Report Fiscal Year 2018 (FY18) is “Stronger Together” which reflects our belief that the steadfast care of patients does not happen in isolation, nor does it happen by chance. It is with deliberate intent that we come together to collaborate and share our respective passions and expertise for the betterment of patients and families.
For 135 years, Anna Jaques has been made stronger by the unwavering support of our staff, physicians, volunteers, boards and community. And as we look ahead to the exciting changes in front of us, we will now have the strength of an integrated health care network to help power our sails.
Just last week on March 1, 2019, Anna Jaques officially became a founding member of
Beth Israel Lahey Health, a transformational integrated health system that spans across eastern Massachusetts. Our inclusion in the second largest health system in the Commonwealth will now afford us greater access to care collaboration, coordination, and more resources than we have ever had. Anna Jaques will continue to strengthen community-based care and accomplish more than we could ever achieve on our own.
While the formation of Beth Israel Lahey Health was underway in the background of FY18, we remained laser-focused on 25 Highland Avenue’s continued success. Together with our dedicated physicians and staff we added and enhanced programs and services such as cancer care and orthopedic MAKO™ services; expanded into critical markets including Haverhill and soon Seabrook, NH; earned awards and accreditations for our quality care; and played a meaningful role in keeping our communities healthier.
This report proudly reflects on many of our FY18 accomplishments and exciting initiatives to come – including the launch of a capital campaign to support the expansion of state-of-the-art operating rooms and renovation of the hospital’s entryway to be named after two of our most devoted, long-time supporters Byron and Helen Matthews.
Continued focus on improving operating performance, along with tremendous donations from our community, led to an exceptional year. Anna Jaques Hospital and Affiliates generated a gain from operations that exceeded our budgeted expectations by more than $1,100,000.
In closing, we recognize with sincere gratitude that your support and loyalty over the years has helped us bring us to where we are today, and we hope you share our enthusiasm for the journey ahead.
